I want to invite you to a small gathering to talk about changing the world. As many of you know and most of you suspect, Goodlife has essentially been put to rest. In it’s wake, I’m looking to gather some friends and talk about the future. I’m particularly interested in cause marketing and focusing the horsepower of business at the immediate goal of doing good in the world, but also just to bounce some ideas around and here’s what’s happening with everyone.

I’m looking at feb 6th at 3pm and hoping you all can join. If you’re interested and available please let me know in the next couple days and I’ll send the rest of the details. Feel free to bring a friend.

I just read your comments as posted through Aaron’s Pebblestorm blog entry. I’m floored. I’m not sure what your social enterprise is about, but I wish that I had found out about your February 6th meeting sooner – oh say, before today (February 9th) and before February 6th came to pass.

I have my own social enterprise above and beyond the budding chocolate truffle business. In fact, I didn’t even realize that Urban/Suburban Ecological Literacy had a name category like “social enterprise” until I was looking at possibly applying for grants to fund it. Urban/Suburban Ecoliteracy is a grassroots community-based social enterprise that was developed to counteract our collective alienation from nature and personal paralysis in the face of environmental problems that seem too large to solve. Urban/Suburban Ecoliteracy is about practical environmental solutions that also build community and create a sense of place.

Since gardens and landscapes are often the most frequent interface people have with nature on a daily basis, this is the context for the content of this intensive all-day workshop, which is one of a monthly series being hosted in a variety of urban and suburban communities. Integrating sustainability into our lives requires a systematic approach and a new way of thinking. To paraphrase Einstein, this is because you can’t solve problems with the same level of thinking that created the problems in the first place. The workshops alternate with hands-on practicums to teach and reinforce practical skills introduced during the workshops.

Well, that’s Urban/Suburban Ecolit in as small of a nutshell as can contain the idea, which doesn’t lend itself well to soundbite culture. I’d like to help or collaborate with you if there’s a good mutual fit. I’ll let you decide if you want to follow up with a response.
